When should I replace my garage door with a new one?

garage door fAQIf your garage door is not working, that is a potential hazard. Do not fix the door on your own to avoid injuries and damage to other property. Immediately contact an expert to check if a repair can be done or if you really need a replacement. Another thing to consider is the look of your garage door. If your garage door does not complement the style and looks of your house, you may want to redesign your garage door or to replace it with a new one.

What is the best garage door for to install?

There is no definite answer to this question. A lot of factors need to be considered when choosing a garage door and a lot of it is based on your needs. Aside from the design and looks of a garage door, you might want to consider the functionality, the need for maintenance, the cost and material.

What type of spring is better, extension or torsion?

Extension springs are attached to both ends of a door. Torsion on the other hand is placed just above the door and does not expand or contract when the door opens or closes. For smoother operation and safety, torsion is a better choice. It balances the weight of the door better than extension springs.

Do I need a lock on my garage door?

Most doors today do not need a lock since they are electronic, and the opener will act as a lock. If your garage door is electronic, do not put locks on your garage door since other family members might accidentally lock it from the outside, causing damage to the door when opened using the electronic opener. But if it is a manual garage door, then putting a lock is highly recommended.

Why do I need an insulated door?

Your garage door can transfer heat to you house if it is not insulated. The heat it can cause can travel through the doorway towards your living room, the ceiling and will make the room above hot, and will make your garage so hot that you won’t able to stay there long enough to work on your vehicle or other things.

How long should my springs last?

Common Torsion springs can last up to about 10,000 cycles. Cycle means one opening and closing of the door. Every time your garage door operates, these springs experience tremendous force and gradually, the steel fatigues with each flex and will eventually crack and break. A loud and instant noise will be heard when this happens and we don’t suggest to try to fix it on your own since it is extremely dangerous.

Can I replace just one section of my dented garage door and not the entire door?

Yes, you can replace a single section of your garage door depending on the model you have. If it is still in production, we can help you with replacing it or even with customized doors.
